THE LAND THAT ALMOST BROKE US
READING AGE 12+
Jen Espiña Remax Alliance Broker
Realistic Urban
ABSTRACT
Jenny Salcedo thought she had finally made the right financial decision.
She borrowed millions to purchase nine hectares of land in Mauban, Quezon, believing it would become her family’s security.
Instead, the purchase nearly destroyed them.
The land was much farther away than she expected. It required a boat ride and a long walk through difficult terrain. There was no convenient road, no easy access, and no immediate way to develop it.
Her family blamed her.
The loan payments continued.
Then COVID-19 changed the world.
As people began searching for remote places to live, work, and escape crowded cities, Jenny’s forgotten property suddenly became valuable.
But before she could turn the land into a fortune, she had to survive:
A family that no longer trusted her judgment
A property dispute that threatened her ownership
People who wanted to take advantage of her desperation
A man who knew the land better than she did
And a love that became complicated when money entered the picture
The land was supposed to save her family. Instead, it almost broke them.
