*UNDER NAMSAN'S SHADOW - SYNOPSIS* Seo Haneul is 21 and tries to live a normal life in Seoul. She works in a bookstore, hides the pointed tip of her ear, and pretends she cannot hear the dead. For Haneul, ghosts do not wander. Their words do. Every place remembers, and she has been hearing them all her life. One night a crimson crack spreads across Namsan Tower. A deep, ancient voice whispers: “Guardian… come home.” Soon after, spirits start attacking people. Hundreds of crimson-eyed ghosts pour out near Namsan Mountain. The seal holding something ancient beneath Seoul is breaking. Haneul is dragged into it when she meets Kang Minjae, a university student who is secretly a part-time exorcist. He can also see spirits, and for some reason, they all start hunting Haneul the moment she shows up. As they investigate, they discover the truth: Haneul is not fully human. She is half dokkaebi, and her blood is the key to an ancient gate beneath Namsan Mountain. Her father was the previous Guardian. His Echo reaches her across 400 years: “Don’t let him remember.” Something called “The First Soul” is trapped beneath Namsan. Its name was erased from history on purpose, and if it remembers its name, the seal will shatter completely. To stop it, Haneul, Minjae, an old shaman named Bokja, and a mysterious Collector with 9 tails must enter the gate beneath Namsan. The gate only opens with dokkaebi blood. They uncover a hidden Spirit Market that only opens at 3AM, where lost names are bought and sold. The disappearances across Seoul Station, Myeong-dong, and the Han River are all leading back to Namsan. In the end, Haneul makes the ultimate sacrifice. She becomes the new Guardian beneath Namsan Mountain. She gives up her humanity to keep the seal closed and guide lost spirits to peace. Four hundred years later, Seoul looks normal again. But Minjae, now an old man, still climbs Namsan. And Haneul still stands beneath the mountain, watching, no longer aging.
