ABSTRACT
At Ethan Carter's birthday party, a death notice suddenly blew up the class group chat.
"No way, Faye Robbins is dead?"
"That's gotta be fake. People like her don't die easy. Didn't she screw Ethan over back then…"
At the head of the table, Ethan was on his phone, his eyes dark and unreadable.
"Fake. I just got a call from her this morning. She said she was coming to my party."
Someone hesitated, then raised their phone. "If I'm not mistaken, this is Faye, right? The memorial's at the funeral home in the next city. Should we go check it out?"
It was a photo of a memorial hall. And there I was, lying peacefully in the center.
Ethan's expression flickered. He stood up and strode toward the door, but the moment he pulled it open, he froze.
The "dead" me was standing right there.
I looked into those familiar eyes and smiled. "Ethan, long time no see. I came to wish you a happy birthday."
