Romance
ABSTRACT
I learned early that monsters do not always look like monsters.
Sometimes they arrive in suits tailored perfectly to their bodies, looking as though they had fallen alongside the devil when God cast him out of heaven.
That is what Lorenzo De Luca is.
A man carved from control and discipline, a man who does not raise his voice because he never needs to, a man whose presence alone is enough to make rooms adjust themselves around him.
They call him ruthless, Powerful. Untouchable.
A monster in the language of men who wish they could be him.
But I have started to understand something different.
Sometimes they are different....
Sometimes they're gentle and that is the part that confuses me.
That is the part that makes it harder to name what he is.
I tell myself I do not care.
I tell myself it means nothing.
I tell myself I am just a contract, a replacement for my dead twin sister in a marriage that was never meant to involve me.
There are moments I catch myself noticing things I should not notice.
The way his voice lowers when he speaks to me.
And that is where the danger begins.
Because control is what I understand. Predictability is what I survive on.
But he does not behave like a man I can predict.
He behaves like a man who is already three steps ahead of whatever game I think I am playing.
Even when I pretend I am not playing one at all.
And still... There is something else.
Something worse.
And I am beginning to understand the most unsettling part of all of this.
Because if he is the monster everyone claims he is...
Then why does he look at me like I am the dangerous one?
And worse...
Why does it feel like I am starting to believe him?
