ABSTRACT
Marisol Vega never got over one fear that everyone she loves will leave her. Her mom died when she was young. Her dad just disappeared one day. Only her grandma Nina stuck around. What Marisol didn't know was that Nina had a secret. She was born into the rich Alcantara family, but nobody ever claimed her.
That secret comes out the night the Alcantaras move into the old hacienda. The new wife, Camila, is cruel to her own son, Dario, and one night he runs off scared. Marisol finds him crying in a barn. They barely had a conversation before the barn caught fire. A boy named Santiago pulls them both out just in time. The three of them make a promise that night, they'll find each other again someday.
Years pass. Marisol is grown now, and so is Dario. Old feelings start coming back. Then Santiago shows up too, and Marisol realizes both men came home for her. But Dario's ex, Valentina, comes back wanting him too, and things fall apart fast when Marisol gets kidnapped.
Months later, a woman named Louisa helps her escape. Marisol rebuilds her life, gets a scholarship from an old widower, Marcelo Reyes, and eventually marries him — mostly for protection. Then she finds out Valentina is his daughter. And she's married to Dario, but Dario still badly wants Marisol
Now Marisol has to pick: Santiago, or Dario.
