When a storm washes a sealed bottle onto the shore, Mara finds a note inside in Eli's handwriting, dated only two months ago. Convinced he's alive, she starts searching the old smuggling caves beneath the cliffs. Tobias, needing her cooperation for his survey, reluctantly helps. Together they uncover a hidden network that has been using the lighthouse signals to guide illegal cargo ships, and Eli may have been part of it. Mara must decide whether to expose the truth, which would save the lighthouse but condemn her brother, or protect Eli and lose the only home she has left.
